金門的冬春之際容易起濃霧，短則幾小時，長則數日。濃霧會封鎖島上聯外交通，讓島嶼完全孤立。過去60年來，金門從對抗共產陣營的前線戰地，轉變成為兩岸小三通的重要樞紐，然而，作為一個蕞爾小島，未來發展的方向從不操之在己。
困在濃霧當中，我得以重新凝視這座島嶼：成為廢墟軍事遺址、矗立在海中的奇特建築、雜草堆中的政治宣傳、昔日望族留下的洋樓、正在興建中現代化建設⋯⋯我試圖利用閃燈照亮這塊土地，但眼前所見僅是濃霧一片。
During the winter and spring seasons, Kinmen often experiences thick fog, which can last for a few hours or even several days. The fog can disrupt transportation to and from the island, leaving Kinmen completely isolated. Over the past 60 years, Kinmen has transformed from a frontline battleground against the communist into a crucial hub for cross-strait communication through the little three links. However, as a remote island, Kinmen's future development direction is not entirely within its control.
Trapped in the thick fog, I walked through this island: the military construction turning into ruins, the peculiar structures standing in the sea, the political propaganda amidst the weeds, the Western-style mansions left by the old gentry, the modern construction projects under development... I try to illuminate the island with a flashlight, but all I see is a blanket of fog.
